Day 97 – Neon

Hey guys! Pretty different shot. I wish I had more time to make it better, but I threw it together in about 30 minutes. Without a tablet (I can’t find my wacom pen!?). Not bad.

If I remember I’ll explain how I did it tomorrow

To hold you over, the “sparkles” in my hand are nothing, and I’m lighting my hands from a) strobe high up aiming down (camera right) which you can see highlighting my hair, and from the softbox camera left that’s giving the “glow” effect. There’s yet another light just right of camera position filling everything in. Obviously sparkles and neon streaks were added in photoshop.

Maybe I’ll revisit this time to make it really good; I’d like to refine the streaks to make them look better and do some better masking around the edges.

Don’t look so critically at your work – you’ll drive yourself crazy reaching for perfect. It is already amazing. To quote my favorite 10-yr-old girl, “Whoa, ho, ho…HOW did he do that??” With lots of kid-wonder and amazement… )
